Kyle Combs

Kyle Combs was a truly remarkable young man whose spirit continues to inspire all who knew him as well as those he cared for.

While still in college Kyle Combs was a Patient Care Technician in the Advanced Care Unit at Miami Valley Hospital (MVH) in Dayton, Ohio. His dream was to become a nurse on the unit, and, according to his supervisor and co-workers, he was an outstanding candidate. They describe him as energetic and enthusiastic about his work and his patients.

Others characterized him as dedicated, fun and caring, with an ability to motivate his co-workers to get fired up about their work. Kyle came by these attributes naturally; his sister is a nurse in Cincinnati, and his twin brother and another sister have both worked at MVH -- in the Intensive Care Unit and the Emergency Department respectively.

However, before he could fulfill his dream, Kyle’s life was tragically cut short in an auto accident in September of 2005.

After his passing, as the unit began receiving contributions in his memory, Kyle’s parents and hospital management agreed that donations should be used to provide educational opportunities for clinical staff in the Advanced Care Unit.

The Kyle Combs Fund will help ensure that current staff – as well as future nurses entering the profession – will have access to cutting-edge treatment information, new protocols and advanced clinical techniques.
